Prof. Dr. Lisa Kaltenegger, österreichische Astronomin und Astrophysikerin sowie Beiratsmitglied des Christian Doppler Fonds ist mit ihrem Astrophysik-Buch „Alien Earths“ für den Wissenschaftsbuch-Preis 2025 (Voting bis 9. Jänner 2025 möglich) nominiert. In ihrem Buch nimmt sie die Leser:innen mit auf der Suche nach neuen Planeten und außerirdischem Leben.
Zur Person:
Lisa Kaltenegger, geb. 1977 in der Nähe von Salzburg/Österreich, promovierte an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz auf dem Gebiet der Astronomie und war mit 23 Jahren das jüngste und einzige weibliche Mitglied der Forschungsgruppe „Design Darwin Mission“ der European Space Agency (ESA). Das Ziel: Erdähnliche Planeten zu entdecken. Mit 27 Jahren wechselte sie an die Harvard University, wo sie bis 2010 forschte und unterrichtete. 2015 gründete sie an der Cornell University das Carl Sagan Institute, dem sie als Direktorin vorsteht.
